So now that I'm a few months into my new job, a whole new world of activities and knowledge has been presented. One of the things that we have on our plate is what we have been calling the Corrective Action process. When we assess the security posture of an application, we are generally looking at NIST 800-53 security control guidelines. After the review we create a list of vulnerabilities and then the customer can choose how to handle them. This information generates a Plan of Action & Milestones document, which addresses the vulnerabilities and what will be done to correct them. The Corrective Action process is how we verify that the items were handled satisfactorily. Given the complexity of the systems we felt that it would be a good idea to design some guidelines for how to create and submit evidence for verification. That resulted in a document called the POA&M Evidence Guidelines or PEG. As we drafted the guidelines, we recognized that there was no single person which would know all of the technologies avaialble. So we are currently working on the framework and would like to seek everyone's help in filling in the information we need. So I'm hosting that right now at peg.veeber.com as a wiki. Once we finalize the structure we're going to open it up and hopefully we'll get some technical people to give us the commands neccessary. So if you'd like to help, please join up and help us out. |

I started the program on a Tuesday, and I'm going to take Saturday as my day off. I needed the day to rest up. Day 1&2 were really tough, but I'm already feeling my body getting back into shape. I'm sure the quick improvement is just getting my muscles use to moving, and as I start pushing to the higher rep exercises I'll feel sore again. Hopefully I'll be comfortable with Level 1-2 within the month and start to excel by 60 days. I don't think I'll move to level 3-4 until after day 60 at this rate, which wouldn't be all that bad. I don't want this to be a 90 day only thing that I do whenever I get out of shape. I think I might try to finish this 90 day cycle, take a break by spending some time rowing during the summer and start with the Power 90 program again towards the Fall. |

So it is farely obvious that Getting in Shape didn't happen. However, we have finished our core classes, and at least for the rest of the summer I don't have classes during the week. I'll do a post on how core went some other day. Yesterday I started a new set of routines, that I hope I'll be able to stick to for the next 90 days. I purchased the Power 90 workout DVD years ago, (literally, I think this was back in 2002) and used them sporatically. I tried the Cardio 1-2 (aerobic) yesterday and couldn't keep up. I am rediculously out of shape. My plan is to do the full 90 days and see where I end up. I'll try to do updates at least once a week. I'll keep the stats after the jump. |
